Media Composition
Manufactured in the USA from 100% post-consumer recycled glass, Cell-Max PLUS provides an optimized pore architecture with a carefully controlled distribution of micro-pores (to support high-density microbial colonization) and macro-pores (to maintain low static pressure drop and uniform gas distribution). This design yields a high specific surface area and an efficient gas–liquid–biofilm contact interface, supporting effective mass transfer with minimal energy penalty.

Details and Specifications
The media’s rigid, lightweight, and chemically inert structure resists physical breakdown, acid attack, and biological degradation, ensuring stable pressure drop and consistent hydraulic performance throughout long-term operation.
Bulk Density (Dry): 10.5 lbs/ft3

Applications
Cell-Max PLUS is particularly well-suited for applications treating elevated H2S concentrations under acidic pH conditions, where traditional organic media may degrade or compact. Its uniform shape and packing geometry also contribute to predictable empty bed retention time (EBRT) and uniform airflow distribution, critical for maintaining optimal removal efficiencies and extended operational life.

Media Selection and Design Support
To mitigate wastewater odors using biological organisms, it is paramount to understand two biochemical processes autotrophic and heterotrophic and their opposing requirements and ecosystems.
Autotrophic bacteria consume inorganic compounds as an energy source and receive carbon from carbon dioxide. Heterotrophic bacteria must obtain both energy and carbon from the organic food they consume. Cell-Max PLUS uses autotrophic bacteria. Find out more
