Organic Ecosystem
This design provides both a high-capacity physical support for biomass and a slow-release supply of essential micronutrients, minerals, adsorbents, and organic carbon sources. The result is the promotion of a stable, diverse, and resilient microbial ecosystem, including naturally selected bacteria and fungi capable of metabolizing not only hydrogen sulfide (H2S) but also complex organic odor compounds and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).

Substrate Structure
Enhanced Cell-Max PLUS maintains the same acid-resistant, non-biodegradable, lightweight, and rigid physical characteristics as standard Cell-Max PLUS, ensuring reliable operation under low pH and biologically aggressive conditions. Its engineered pore structure supports optimal biofilm development without excessive clogging, and the infused nutrient matrix minimizes the need for frequent external nutrient dosing reducing operational oversight and extending media life.

Media Selection and Design Support
To mitigate wastewater odors using biological organisms, it is paramount to understand two biochemical processes autotrophic and heterotrophic and their opposing requirements and ecosystems.
Autotrophic bacteria consume inorganic compounds as an energy source and receive carbon from carbon dioxide. Heterotrophic bacteria must obtain both energy and carbon from the organic food they consume. Enhanced Cell-Max PLUS uses heterotrophic bacteria. Find out more
