Use in Biofilters
In biofiltration systems, Fir Bark Nuggets serve as both a physical shield and an ecological enhancer retaining moisture, buffering UV exposure, and supporting microbial ecosystems responsible for odor compound degradation. Free of contaminants, dyes, and non-bark wood additives, Fir Bark Nuggets are made from clean, sustainably sourced bark with no known microbial inhibitors such as eucalyptus, cedar, or redwood.
Moisture Content: 3555%
Bulk Density (Wet): 350450 lb/yd3
pH: 4.5 to 5.5

Product Benefits
- Moisture Retention: Reduces evaporation and maintains consistent humidity in the biofilter bed.
- Odor and Dust Suppression: Traps volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and bioaerosols, improving surface-level air quality.
- Supports Microbial Activity: Functions as a habitat for beneficial fungi and bacteria involved in organic compound degradation.
- UV and Weather Protection: Shields underlying active media from solar degradation and temperature swings.
- Reduces Compaction & Maintenance: Creates a breathable, resilient surface that protects against compaction and suppresses weed growth.
- Aesthetic & Erosion Control: Visually clean and natural-looking while preventing displacement of lightweight media during rain or irrigation events.
